What’s New about From Campus To CAREER?
Some have asked me why I decided to update my career advice guide and change the title to “From Campus to Career”? The first, and most obvious reason is that, the pandemic changed everything – from the way we live, the way we travel and the way we work.
But the other reason I was compelled to update it is because while we each have different workforce journeys.
In the past, I shared my view that, while college is a great option for many, we must de-stigmatize other paths, including the high school to career pathway. It simply isn’t everyone’s choice or option. This year, some members of the Class of 2022 will graduate from high school and head straight to their dream job. Some will choose to honorably serve our country in the U.S. military. Many others will “earn and learn”, pursuing credentials, certificates and college degrees while working.
Nevertheless, while we each might have different starts, professional skills or essential skills are a necessity for successful entry (and staying power) into the workforce. And mastering the skills will make the difference irrespective of one’s industry, role or education.
And that’s what I hope my book helps provide.
